Why we should stop getting offended when someone says that our UX work is pretty

A personal opinion / reflection

Hi everyone, this is something that starter to come around my mind. You know guys that there is a big dilemma about how non designer people understand ux, and the big effort and hands behind an end product. I’m pretty sure how disrespected we feel when someone reduces our work only to “Pretty visual things”.

And also as designers, or managers or design-related workers, we should spread the word of ux all around. You know, having conversations about it, talking whit others and also, being inclusive when recognition of the results come around (You know, we all build the UX).

Been there…

But just imagine an end (a completely non designer person)user telling you okay guys, this is pretty, I think that we should translate all that love into, “this is easy to use”, “this is well designed”, “I could make my work easy”, “I saved time to be with my family this weekend cause I ended my project faster”, because in his own understanding the product is what they need.

So maybe behind the “Pretty” adjective, there is a lot of meaning, and build something that other people would love, is the best aiming and recognition that a ux team could receive.

:)

What do you think?
